 Impact of Bilingualism in Indonesia such as Minangkabau and Javanese

     Indonesia is a country that has a lot of culture. The number of these differences greatly affect the relations between the communities. Many people who are married to another tribe, or someone working in other areas that have a different culture. This can have an impact on the emergence of two languages or Bilingualism.
     Bilingualism is a characteristics of most societies in the world, including Indonesia. One of the areas in Indonesia that has two languages is Minangkabau, West Sumatra and Java (Central Java and East Java). Minangkabau and Javanese children are mainly bilingual; they can speak in their mother tounge, the Minangkabau language, and the national language, Bahasa Indonesia.

      They are usually introduced in Indonesian by their parents or teachers at school and they learn to speak Minang of the environment in the home of a family member and environments such as friends and neighbors.
      The linguists have long believed the influence of the first language to a second language. This is called language transfer. In the bilingual society, people often educate their children in a language they thought would benefit their children later in life. Sometimes their native language does not play a significant role both in the economy, politics, education and employment opportunities in their communities.
      Therefore, in modern times many regional languages eroded. Many children who forget or do not know much vocabulary in the region.
      Is the Indonesian elections as a first language is indeed a significant impact on the ability of receptive and productive language support children in Indonesia at school?
